Hua Mulan explores the origin story of the mythic woman warrior in 5th Century China -- a ten-year-old girl who, after struggling to find herself in a world of men, becomes a legendary hero, immortalized for the ages.

CONTEXT:  This song is layered over a montage of agrarian village life as the central character ages from Mulan at 10 (sung by Angel, right) to the soon-to-be hero, Mulan at 17 (sung by Alex, left), pages 22-25 in the script.

Madam Hua (sung by Ali Ewoldt) has a heart-to-heart with her rebellious ten-year-old daughter, who once again has been caught practicing sword work and martial arts with the boys and men.  Pages 16-18 in the script. (Incomplete recording, Mulan's dialogue and singing line to be recorded at a future date.)

End of Act One, full company number (composer vocals)  It's the Mid-Autumn festival, and the conflicts in the aftermath of Mulan's revealing her alter-ego seem to have been resolved and harmony is restored. Pages 44 - 47 in script.
